The CAT 2015 exam is round the corner. Most IIMs have already released their admission criteria for PGP and PGDM 2016-18 batch. Here is the first of the two part series where we explain the admission criteria of various IIMs.
IIM Shillong Admission Criteria
The IIM Shillong, along with other IIMs has devised its own admission process. Apart from performance in the CAT 2015 exam, the institute will also account in a few other factors. The first merit list of the candidates will be derived based on the performance in the CAT 2015. Notably, the institute has already released the minimum cut-off list for each category. As per the trends of the last year, it is expected that the candidates will be grouped as per their graduation degree and the CAT scores.

In the next stage of the admission process, IIM Shillong will conduct personal interview of the shortlisted candidates. The scores obtained in this personal interview will be used clubbed with the CAT scores to derive the final merit list. For detailed reference, click on this link:
IIM Bangalore Admission Criteria
Although, there is no official word from the IIM Bangalore regarding its admission criteria; however, let us look at the previous trends. The minimum CAT cut-off stood at 90.32 percentile and 91.46 percentile in 2014 and 2015 respectively. The institute derives its final admission list based on past academic performance, work experience, CAT scores, written test, and performance in PI. The candidates will be shortlisted based on performance in CAT 2015. Then, a merit list will be devised based on the percentage of marks achieved in class 10 and class 12, and work experience (if any).
Work experience is calculated based on following methodology:
- if, no experience
- 5 if x36
Where x is the months of Work exp.
After devising the merit list, the candidates will be asked to appear for a personal interview and written test at IIM Bangalore. In addition, they will be asked to write an article on a topic, which may belong to any category like – political affairs, economic and business affairs, sports and any other field. A time limit of 30 minutes will be set for this.
IIM Ranchi Admission Criteria
Following the IIM admission criteria released by various IIMs, IIM Ranchi has released its admission criteria. The first admission list will be released by the institute based on the performance in the CAT exam, Personal Interview, Written Ability Test, and work experience.
Here is the minimum cut-off score required in the CAT exam.
However, please note that these figures are only indicative, and actual figures of the cut-off may be different from these. The PI and the WAT will be conducted by IIM Ranchi in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bangalore. The final admission offers will be generated after assimilating the performance of the candidates as per the following rule:

Apart from these, the institute will award three marks to female candidates.
IIM Ahmedabad Admission Criteria
The IIM Ahmedabad announced its admission criteria in the month of August. The final admission letters will be issued after analysing the performance of the candidates in two stages.
The candidates will be shortlisted for personal interview and AWT based on performance in the CAT 2015 Exam. The following cut-off list (tentative) has been released by the IIM Ahmedabad.
To determine the final merit list, the IIM Ahmedabad will use the application rating score (AR) of the candidate. The AR score will be the sum of rating of A, B, and C, where A is the score of 10th standard exam, B is the score of 12th exam, and C is the score of graduation. For more details, visit this link.
IIM Indore Admission Criteria
The IIM Indore, along with other IIMs has devised its own admission process. Apart from performance in the CAT 2015 exam, the IIM Indore will also account in a few other factors. The first merit list of the candidates will be derived based on the performance in the CAT 2015. Notably, the institute has already released the minimum cut-off list for each category. The final admission will be conducted based on analysis of WAT and PI score, CAT Score, and work experience.

After determining the eligibility of the candidates in this, the institute will call candidates for the WAT and PI. The WAT and PI will be held in following cities: Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai, Indore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai.
Those who fulfil the second criteria will be called further for third admission round at IIM Indore. The final composite scores will be derived on following basis:
