The IIFT Entrance exam is only a day away, and surely, the time for extended preparation is gone. As we earlier mentioned in our “few important tips for the IIFT exam” article, this is the time for the last minute preparations. The annual entrance test, organized by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), will be held on November 22, 2015. The IIFT is famous for its flagship MBA (International Business) programme offered at multiple campuses. Notably, this is the time which you should spend relaxing. To battle the pre-exam nerves, it is important that you rest properly ahead of the exam. There is no doubt that your continuous hardwork will be enough to see you through the exam, however, it is important that you keep some dos and don’ts in mind. Here are the seven important tips, that might help you deal with the IIFT exam in a confident manner.
- Avoid Wasting Unnecessary time on One Question
By this time, you should be well averse with your strengths and weaknesses. There are some areas where you will do well and in some, you may not do particularly well. For that reason, do not put extra time and energy to questions pertaining to your weaker sections. You will be well off if you move away from such questions to the ones you are confident about. Additionally, the IIFT exam is a speed-driven test, so every second counts.
- Time Management
Your ability to manage time will be of utmost importance. You must keep track of time you spend on every question. You will certainly come across questions, which might require some extra time. So keep some time on hand for those. For instance, you could divide your time strategically to questions in each section and once you exceed the time limit, switch over to the next section.
- Mark Your Answers carefully
This is one of the biggest negatives of undertaking a pen and paper based tests – OMR Sheet Management. A majority of students miss their dream college just because of wrong marking in the OMR sheets. One mistake could easily lead to a complete catastrophe. Therefore, you are advised to keep track of the serial number of the column you are entering your data. Further, avoid putting redundant effort in darkening the answers. This may slit the OMR-sheet.
- Keep Calm
Keep Calm, it is only an exam!
Keeping calm before and during the exam is very important. Many students tend to get overly cautious or too casual while undertaking the exam. Being at peace can help you in performing better. There is no point in fluttering while giving exam. Rather, try to find a solution to the challenge; you have prepared well throughout the year, and rest assured that you would do well. By losing your nerve, you will only increase anxiety and might mark the wrong answer option despite knowing the correct answer.
- Only Attempt the questions you are confident about
Because the IIFT exam carries negative marking, therefore avoid making guess. One cannot attempt every question. Yes, your strategy of taking risks may come through; that said, avoid taking unnecessary risks. You need to be calculative of the questions you are attempting and the number of questions you should attempt.
- Don’t forget your admit card
This may prove very hazardous. Admit card is the first thing, which you should carry with you while appearing for the test. Additionally, it is advisable that you carry an extra copy of your admit card with you; just in case you lose the original one.
- Carry a Valid Identification document
An ID proof is very important document, and one, which is mandatory at the test centre. In addition, a photocopy of the ID proof will not be acceptable at the test centre, so carry the original document. For reference, following document can be used by candidates as valid identification documents:
- Driving license.
- Election I-card.
- PAN card.
- College I-card.
Most importantly, candidates will not be allowed to bring expensive items like the mobile phones, handbags, jewellery, and other electronic devices to the test centre. So, keep them at home.
Eventually, take a proper night’s sleep before the exam and reach your exam centre before the mentioned time. Over the summers, you have prepared well for the exam. This is the time to enjoy the exam and reap benefits of your hard work.
