So, yet another MBA entrance exam is done and dusted. You have done your part – prepared for the exam, and appeared for the exam. Now for those of you who aren’t looking upto the CAT 2015 exam, it is time for a well-deserved rest. The IIFT results aren’t expected before December 2015. However, you must be itching to get an analysis of the IIFT 2015 exam, which was held on November 22, 2015. Therefore, to provide an analysis report, our team at Global Educates talked to our panel of experts to provide a detailed IIFT exam analysis. With many incremental changes to exam pattern, IIFT exam can least be described as a roller coaster ride. This year, the overall exam difficulty can be pegged between moderate to difficult. That said, if compared to the last year, this year’s edition of the exam was lot easier, which will ultimately shoot up the cut-off. The overall cut-off of this year is expected to be around 50-52. If you compare this to last year’s cut-off of 38.5, there is a massive spike in the score.

  Speed and the selection of questions are expected to be the major drivers of the exam. Additionally, in our first interaction with the students, we discovered that the questions pertaining to the DI section were of high difficulty level.

IIFT Exam Sectional Analysis: Analytical Reasoning

This section was the easiest section of them all. Almost all question paper sets had the same difficulty for this section; barring a few questions, which had some amount of ambiguity attached to them. We believe, the questions of this section could have been completed in twenty minutes. An attempt of 15-16 questions can be easily considered as a good attempt. That said it is expected that a majority of students will do well in this section. Overall, our experts believe that a good score in this section might not guarantee you complete success due to the low difficulty level.

IIFT Exam Sectional Analysis: Data Interpretation

The overall difficulty level of this section can be considered between moderate to difficult. Additionally, there was some ambiguity in certain graphs; hence, many students were forced to leave questions related to the topic. Notably, this section was bit time consuming, as it required students to put extra time and effort. An above average student is expected to score well in this section. An attempt of 12-13 questions and investment of not more than 20 minutes in this section can be considered as a good attempt. This section might fetch you between 6 and 9 marks.

IIFT Exam Sectional Analysis: Reading Comprehension

This section comprised of four reading comprehension based questions. The overall pattern of this section was consistent with last year’s paper. Moreover, the difficulty level this year was at par last year’s difficulty level. An attempt of 10 questions and investment of not more than 25 minutes in this section can be considered as a good attempt. This section might fetch you between 7 and 10 marks.

IIFT Exam Sectional Analysis: Verbal Ability

This section comprised of 2 questions each on para-jumbles, idioms, word usage, and 9 questions on vocabulary. This section seemed easy because it consisted of words from the often asked phrases and words in any competitive exam. Besides, the value of investment of time was good. An attempt of 15-16 questions and investment of not more than 25 minutes in this section can be considered as a good attempt. This section might fetch you around 10-11 marks.

IIFT Exam Sectional Analysis: General Knowledge

The overall difficulty level of a GK Section cannot be accounted as it depend on person-to-person basis. For some, certain areas may pose stiffer challenge, and for others, questions of some other areas may pose challenge. Nevertheless, the range of questions was notable. There was an even spread of questions on events like Eurozone, world history, authors, awards and recognition, and world economy. Overall, the time spent in this particular section is sufficient for this section.

An attempt of 16 questions and investment of not more than 20 minutes in this section can be considered as a good attempt. This section might fetch you around 5-6 marks.

IIFT Exam Sectional Analysis: Quantitative Ability

This year, the quality of questions wasn’t at par last year. For instance, there were numerous questions on Arithmetic. Conversely, Geometry and Algebra  had only 3 questions each. Only six questions were taken from Modern mathematics. The overall difficulty level of this section was nine easy questions and six of higher difficulty level. An attempt of 16-17 questions and investment of not more than 25 minutes in this section can be considered as a good attempt. This section might fetch you around 12-15 marks.
