History and Facts

  • Founded in 1810, the Humboldt University of Berlin is one of the oldest universities of Berlin. The university has produced more than 29 Nobel Laureates. 
  • The university presently covers all the major subjects from the Arts and Humanities to Human Medicine and Science; with a total of 31,065 registered students. 
  • The university was ranked in the top hundred global university rankings by both the Times Higher Education Rankings as well as QS World University Rankings.

Location and Transportation

  • The university was built under the foundation of a former royal palace in the centre of Berlin, which is home to numerous theatres, cinemas, museums, and galleries which are all a short walk from the campus.
  • Although the university has strong transportation facilities, however, use of cycles in Berlin is highly prominent as well as encouraged. 
  • The central location of the university connects it with many hubs of the city. 

 

Student Facilities and Unions

  • Students may work for no more than 15 hours a week within Berlin.
  • Home to almost 30303 students, including 4000 doctoral students. 
  • Numerous restaurants and cafeterias serving a wide range of different cuisines.
  • Berlin Academic Sports Association has something for everyone, offering 120 different sports, from aikido to windsurfing.Also, bilingual training center where students can learn new skills.
