The dates for the National Eligibility Test that is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have been announced. The CBSE has announced the dates of the exam on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The exam is scheduled to be held in December this year. The last date for submitting application forms is November 1, 2015. However, interested candidates can pay the examination fee till November 2, 2015. The exam will be held on December 27, 2015, across the country.
The main purpose of conducting the exam is to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the posts of Assistant Professors or Junior Research Fellowship at Indian universities. The exam is held bi-annually. To be eligible for the exam, a candidate should have a Master's degree or its equivalent from a recognized university. The NET exam will comprise of three sections. Paper I will be for duration of one hour 15 minutes and will comprise of 60 questions, out of which the candidates are required to attempt 50 questions. It will carry a total of 100 marks. Paper II will be for duration of one hour 15 minutes and will comprise of 50 questions, all of which are compulsory. Paper III will be for duration of two hours and 30 minutes and will comprise of 70 questions.
